High Sierra Chapter of BCHNV participates in Food Drive and Receives State Recognition

The High Sierra Chapter of BCHNV (Reno) has participated in the local “Share Your Christmas” food drive for the past five years. This year we collected over 550 pounds of food and $100, and as always, we delivered it to the drive up collection point on horseback, with a pack string.

Nine members and 7 1/2 animals participated. The food drive, hosted by our local Channel 2 television station, always has one of its members ride with us and interview the riders. Each year we receive great television coverage of the all-day live event, and they have invited us back for next year.

Additionally, our chapter was recognized as the “Partner Organization of the Year-2015” from the Friends of Nevada Wilderness. Several of our members attended their awards banquet and accepted a framed print of Nevada’s “Table Mountain Wilderness” in appreciation for our work with them in Central Nevada. We are all looking forward to hosting you at the National Board Meeting in Las Vegas in April, 2016.

Hope to see you there.
